Top Tips For A Golfing Holiday To Remember

Most keen golfers will, at some point, want to combine the relaxation of an annual holiday with their favourite sport.  If you can persuade the rest of the family that it’s a good idea, or if you’re taking off on your own for a few days, there is an amazing array of resorts for you to choose from.

Planning the trip well will save you time and stress on arrival, and will make sure that you get the most from your much-awaited trip.  If you’re travelling with non-golfing family members, for instance, investing in a good guide book that highlights other local attractions would be a good idea, so that they enjoy the holiday as well and you can get in some guilt-free rounds.

Think carefully about how many rounds of golf you would really enjoy, over how many days, and how much you’ll be prepared to spend.  If you’re the only golfer in the group, remember that you are still a social being and too much time on your own might well be a bit lonely, so either plan fewer rounds, or take a friend who likes golf! Many tour operators offer all-inclusive packages and will arrange the rounds, including tee times.

You won’t be short of a choice of destinations, with some 30,000 courses available world-wide.  Some of the best courses are in the UK, and other well-known courses are situated in the US, but other countries that offer excellent golf courses and package holidays include Australia, Spain, and Canada.  Other countries that are starting to be well-known for their courses include China, South Korea and the Dominican Republic.  There are several beautiful courses in the Caribbean, which have the added benefit of being situated in luxury holiday destinations in their own right.

The sort of price you’ll pay will vary according to the season and what kind of accommodation you’re after.  Beware the potentially hidden cost of transporting your clubs if you are planning on taking your own – check with your airline when booking.
